The Archbishop of Canterbury today spoke of the 'broken bonds and abused trust' in a British society torn apart by riots and financial speculation. R
Delivering his Christmas Day sermon from Canterbury Cathedral, Dr Rowan Williams asked the congregation to learn lessons about 'mutual obligation' from the events of the past year.
Dr Williams said: 'The most pressing question we now face, we might well say, is who and where we are as a society. Bonds have been broken, trust abused and lost.

An explosion ripped through a Catholic church during Christmas Mass near Nigeria's capital today killing at least 39 people.
A radical Muslim sect claimed responsibility five attacks which struck the nation's north-east today.
The Christmas Day attacks show the growing national ambition of the sect known as Boko Haram, which is responsible for at least 495 killings this year alone.
